Zayed National Museum: A New Cultural Heart for Abu Dhabi

🎨 In December 2025, Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Cultural District will welcome the Zayed National Museum – the UAE’s national museum, dedicated to the country’s history and the legacy of Sheikh Zayed.

The project bridges history and innovation. Pritzker Prize‑winner Norman Foster designed five steel falcon‑feather spires, symbolising the nation’s bird. The museum tells the story of 300,000 years of life in the Emirates and will join a cultural cluster alongside Louvre Abu Dhabi, the upcoming Natural History Museum and the future Guggenheim.

• 📅 Opening date: 3 December 2025; tickets are on sale.
• 🏛️ Collection: more than 3,000 artefacts, with 1,500 on display at launch. Highlights include the Abu Dhabi pearl, fragments of the Blue Quran and a replica of the Magan boat.
• 🧭 Galleries: Our Beginning, Through Our Nature, To Our Ancestors and others guide visitors through ancient history, nature, trade routes and nation‑building.
• 🌿 Al Masar Garden: a 600‑metre path from the Saadiyat coast to the museum, featuring native plants, falaj irrigation and art installations.
• 🏛️ Context: the museum will complement the cultural district, which includes Louvre Abu Dhabi and upcoming projects such as teamLab Phenomena, the Natural History Museum and the Guggenheim.

The opening of the Zayed National Museum will reinforce Abu Dhabi’s position as a cultural capital and create a new space for dialogue, learning and inspiration.
