🏗️ Dubai Creek Tower: a fresh start?
Emaar Properties founder Mohamed Alabbar told the Dubai International Project Management Forum that a tender for the redesigned Dubai Creek Tower will be issued within three months. The project was unveiled before the pandemic as a structure intended to exceed the Burj Khalifa, but it was later put on hold as the design underwent revisions.
🕰️ Timeline: the tender will be released within the next three months; detailed construction plans remain confidential due to the project’s complexity.
🎨 New design: Alabbar noted that height alone is no longer enough – the new tower will focus on aesthetics and harmony with its surroundings.
📜 History: the original concept aimed for record height but was paused for redesign.
🏙️ Context: the tower is part of the Dubai Creek Harbour district, which also features the Dubai Square development. The mall, currently under construction, will cost around AED 180 billion and be nearly three times the size of Downtown Dubai.
💼 Why it matters: launching the tender signals the revival of a flagship project. A reimagined icon could boost property values and reinforce Dubai’s status as an architectural trendsetter.
