Etihad Rail has unveiled the first passenger routes for the UAE’s national railway, marking a pivotal milestone for the country’s transport network.
- 🚄 The initial phase will connect Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah, reducing travel time between the capital and Dubai to around one hour and to Fujairah to about 90 minutes.
- 🛤️ The line will serve three stations: Mohamed Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi, Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai and Sakamkam near Al Hilal City in Fujairah.
- 🚆 Trains will run at up to 200 km/h with capacity for up to 400 passengers.
- 👥 Etihad Rail expects the passenger service to accommodate up to 10 million travellers annually.
- 🚅 Plans also include a high‑speed electrified line between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, which could slash the journey to 30 minutes, and the network will eventually incorporate 11 additional stations across the UAE.
