DXV Vertiport Takes Shape: A New Era of Urban Air Travel

Dubai isn’t just talking about flying cars construction of the world’s first purpose‑built vertiport, DXV, next to DXB airport is 60 % complete. The project is being delivered by Skyports Infrastructure with oversight from Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

  • 🛠️ The four‑storey, 3,100 sqm terminal will include parking decks, take‑off and landing pads, charging stations and fully air‑conditioned passenger facilities.
  • ✈️ It’s designed to handle 42,000 landings per year and serve about 170,000 passengers.
  • 🔋 Electric aerial taxis from Joby Aviation have already completed a 17‑minute test flight; the vehicles seat four passengers plus a pilot, fly at 320 km/h and offer a range of 160 km.
  • 🕒 RTA has signed agreements with Emaar, Atlantis The Royal and Wasl to build three more vertiports, creating a network of four sites for launch in 2026.
  • ⚙️ Flights will cut the trip from DXB to Palm Jumeirah to about 10 minutes, replacing a 45‑minute car journey.

DXV marks a leap toward three‑dimensional urban mobility. Do you think air taxis will change how you move around cities?
